[LIST] - BEST Free iOS Apps for Enhanced Productivity and Getting Things Done
Todo Queue lets you organize your tasks into lists and then view them by priority, title, list or due date. Items can also be synced with the desktop version (currently Mac only). Due and overdue tasks are flagged with a red icon so that you know what needs to be completed right away. There are 7 color themes to choose from and it also has a backup and restore feature.
The YouSendIt app syncs with the web service and lets you quickly and easily send, share, sync and sign files right from your mobile device. You can also open and save images, videos and documents from your email and then save them into your YouSendIt cloud storage folder. Document types supported include: pdf, doc, docx, ppt, pptx, xls, xlsx, and tiff.
Cross It Off! Lite is a simple list creation app that lets you create, edit, delete, and rearrange items into different sections. You can cross off items and tasks as you complete them. You can also customize the color of your headings (6 colors to choose from).
iTimeBox helps you keep up with short-term goals by letting you “break big goals into manageable sessions”. The goal of the app is to have you focus on only one activity at a time by using the built-in timer to get things done efficiently. It’s best when used for repeat goals so that you can compare your sessions and “find a balance in your life activities.”
RE.minder is a stylish app that focuses less on actual to-do lists and more on getting tasks done on time. You can delay and repeat reminders as well as use the “bug me” feature to bug you ever minute or hour until you complete and shut off that reminder. There are 20+ alarm sounds to choose from and you can even share reminders with friends.
eMailGanizer is not just an email client, it’s an advanced email filing system which lets you quickly organize your messages. You can file emails into folders and even add them to your to-do lists (Toodledo, Things, OmniFocus, Firetask, Appigo) or the iOS calendar. It uses “sophisticated technology that learns your prior filing behavior so that it can present you with the folders most relevant to the email being filed.”
Shopping List Free lets you create and manage beautiful grocery and shopping lists. You can sort products into categories and quickly add items using the “quick-select” feature. It even lets you add prices so that you know exactly how much your total will be before going shopping.
Springpad is more than just an note taking app, it lets you “quickly and easily save the ideas and information you want to remember.” You can save images, notes, tasks, products, places, movies, recipes and much more. The items that you add are automatically organized and enhanced with additional information like directions, prices, links, show times, etc. Your items will also sync with the web version of the service.
Wunderlist is a gorgeous task manager that lets you create to-do lists and then sync them with the web and desktop versions. With the iOS app you get push notifications, badge notifications and email reminders. You can also add lists and tasks by email and share lists with friends. There are 12 different backgrounds to choose from.
It’s hard to believe that an app like Schedule Planner is free. It lets you plan your daily tasks (manually or from pre-existing plans) and organize them into color-coded categories. “Once the category is selected users simply input the specific nature of each time block, including when each task should be started and its overall duration.” This allows you to better keep track of your productivity and see what you’re actually doing compared to what you had planned.
Alarmed is an alarm clock with built reminders and timers. You can use the scheduling feature to receive reminders and alerts via push notifications. You can set custom messages, create repeat reminders and use the “nag-me” feature to auto repeat reminders every minute or hour.
The title says it all, Cozi is a family organizer that includes a calendar, shopping lists, to-do lists and journal. Each family member has their own calendar and to-do list that you can keep up with, but you can also track family events and tasks as well. The app syncs flawlessly with the web version.
ScatterBrain is an exquisite and “extremely focused note taking app designed to let you capture thoughts and ideas quickly when they happen.” You can organize your notes into groups by color and share notes by email or SMS. There’s also a very useful backup and restore feature. Best of all, there are no ads taking up space on your screen.
Sometimes it’s just easier to record notes by voice as opposed to typing them on your mobile device and that’s what AudioNote Lite lets you do. Each note creates a link that points directly to the spot where it recorded, so there’s no need to search through an entire recording. It also has a pen mode so that you can draw and handwrite notes. With the lite version, there is a limitation of 10 minutes per audio and 2 hours total.
GooCal is an easy way to sync and manage your Google Calendar. It even supports multiple accounts so you can add more than one calendar if needed. You can also search within your events to find what you need. Best of all, it works offline so no Internet connection is needed.
If you’re a fan of mind mapping, then you’ll live SimpleMind+. It’s a great way to brainstorm and organize your thoughts and ideas. The free version is limited, yet still offers great functionality like drag and drop organization, undo/redo, cut/copy/paste, style customization (colors, borders, lines), and syncing with the desktop version (Windows and Mac).
Finally we have Join.me, an awesome app that lets you attend meetings and VoIP audio conferences right on your mobile device. It’s great for mobile screen sharing and collaboration in real-time with others who are using the iOS app or web version. You can also chat with other participants. You will, of course, need to be connected to the Internet in order join meetings.
